Witham Health Services’ Emergency Department at its nearby Anson location has received national recognition as a 2013 Guardian of Excellence AwardSM winner by Press Ganey Associates, Inc. The prestigious award recognizes top-performing facilities that consistently achieved the 95th percentile of performance in patient satisfaction.
Fewer than five percent of all Press Ganey clients reach this threshold and consistently maintain it for the one year reporting period. In fact, Witham has exceeded that mark with a 99 percent patient satisfaction rate. Press Ganey partners with more than 10,000 health care facilities, including more than half of all U.S. hospitals, to measure and improve the patient experience.
“This award represents an important recognition from one of the industry leaders in measuring, understanding and improving the patient experience,” said Raymond Ingham, CEO, President of Witham Health Services. “Our emergency department is staffed by board-certified physicians and registered nurses who are trained in providing quality, compassionate care.”
“This award reinforces our commitment to patient satisfaction and provides us with an opportunity to analyze our results and further strengthen our focus of providing superior patient satisfaction across other departments in the hospital as well,” added Ingham.
Witham’s receipt of this award is just one more example that the quality of service is not dependent on the size of the health provider. More important than the size of the facility is its focus on patient care. Providing quality care not only involves how well care is delivered, but also how well you are treated as an individual. A small hospital means you are never a number or a condition; you are a person.
“We are proud to partner with Witham Health Services,” said Patrick T. Ryan, CEO of Press Ganey. “Achieving this level of excellence reflects the organization’s commitment to delivering outstanding service and quality. Witham’s efforts benefit patients throughout Boone County and will lead to improved patient experiences.”
Zionsville resident and Emergency Department Director Dr. Anthony G. Steele said, “It is an honor to be recognized by this national award as being at the very top of patient satisfaction. Very few institutions nationwide receive this accolade. Our total team effort at the Anson ER is focused on serving the healthcare needs of our community,” said Dr. Steele.
In thanking the Zionsville community for its support, Dr. Steele stated, “I want to thank our community for the support that we have received. Trusting your health to someone is a very personal and deeply important decision. We thank you for entrusting the Anson ER.”
